ADHD symptoms in children are often suspected in many children, and the reason for that is because they can also be normal behavior exhibited by any young child. Many parents are frustrated due to this fact. Adding to this, is the multiplicity with which the symptoms can present themselves. A parent should then try to avoid a snap decision about whether their child is truly ADHD. They must rely on a trained professional to determine this. In this article, we will try to shed a little more light on this difficult area by sharing three forms of ADHD symptoms seen in children.
You should focus on multiple behaviors if you feel your child may be ADHD. Also, know that each behavior has specific qualities that you should look for. Inattentiveness and lack of focus will be present in all areas of a child’s life if they are ADHD. Does your child seem to ‘bounce’ from one thing to the next and then the next? Often this is construed as hyperactivity or even compulsion. It is vital that this behavior is observed over a long time frame like six months. If this is the case then be sure to contact your doctor. Maintaining sufficient attention during activities or even play time is something seen in completely normal activities. For most children, reaching frustration point on tasks is actually quite normal. On average a person’s interest and attention in this situation will start to lessen. For most people they will take into account how important the task is to finish. If it’s not important, then we think you’ll see more of a drop in attention. If a task is important though, then an average person would find a way to sustain their attention until it is finished.
In extreme cases, a child with ADHD may engage in physically dangerous activities. The hallmark is that there seems to be no thought given to the possible consequences of the dangerous activity. Another common behavior is unable to wait their turn for a favorite activity. Another common tendency is not waiting till a question has been fully presented prior to the child answering the question. The common factor in these behaviors is patience.
If you feel that your child has these symptoms and they have been on going, then the next step is to contact your family doctor.
